Chief prosecutor Lutsenko, MEPs discuss support of prosecution reform in Ukraine
Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko and members of the European Parliament (MEPs) have discussed ways of combating corruption and reforming Ukraine's prosecution.
In particular, Lutsenko met with leaders of the "Friends of European Ukraine" informal group Petras Auštrevičius and Rebecca Harms, as well as with Kaja Kallas, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) of Ukraine said on Tuesday.
"I am fully convinced that in the past two years, the prosecutor's offices have undergone dramatic changes, which will serve the ground for independent and highly professional work of prosecutors," Lutsenko was quoted as saying during the meeting.
The MEPs in turn confirmed readiness for effective support in various spheres, as well as in facilitating the implementation of initiated improvements in the PGO's work.
"The sides agreed at the meeting to ensure further interaction in matters of common interest," the press service said.
