Court refuses to recuse Poroshenko's rep in case on decree stripping Saakashvili of citizenship
The Cassation Administrative Court in the new Supreme Court of Ukraine has rejected the request by the lawyers of the leader of the Movement of New Forces party, Mikheil Saakashvili, to recuse Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko's representative in the case on appealing the presidential decree to strip the former Georgian president of Ukrainian citizenship.
At a session on Monday, January 29, a panel of judges rejected a petition lodged by lawyer Ruslan Chornolutsky, who considers unauthorized a person who represents Poroshenko's interests on the basis of a power of attorney signed by Head of the Presidential Administration Ihor Rainin.
After the announcement of this decision, Saakashvili's associates and supporters present in the hall began to chant "disgrace" and then began to sing the anthem of Ukraine.
