Poroshenko to decide on balloting for second presidential term, depending on success of next 6 months
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has said that he will make a decision to run for a second presidential term within the next six months, when the electoral cycle starts, and this decision will depend on the success of the coming six months.
At the Ukrainian Breakfast in Davos (Switzerland) on Thursday morning, Poroshenko, responding to a question about his participation in the elections, said: "We have more than a year before the elections. The cycle will begin only in autumn," an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.
"My decision will depend on how much the next six months will be successful," the incumbent head of the Ukrainian state said.
The next presidential election in Ukraine will be held in the spring of 2019.
