ORDLO reps cannot become formal party in JCCC – Klimkin
Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin believes that representatives of certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions cannot become formal side in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination in Donbas.
"Russia can use representatives of the occupation administrations in its ranks, but they cannot become a formal part of the JCCC," Klimkin said in Kyiv on Monday at a press conference on the results of Ukrainian diplomacy in 2017 and priorities for 2018.
According to him, JCCC cannot get formal status.
The head of the Ukrainian foreign ministry also noted that the Russian military in some cases were able to influence the occupation administrations with a view to a ceasefire regime.
The minister said that he would discuss with the French side its participation in the JCCC, and Germany is ready to participate in the JCCC, subject to the expansion of the mandate. "He [German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel] said that this issue can be considered, but only in the context of the change of the JCCC mandate, its expansion," Klimkin said.
