Former member of 'Ghost' militant unit in Luhansk sentenced to 10-year prison term
Judges in Luhansk region have sentenced two militants, an informant to militants and two saboteurs who planned terrorist attacks in Lysychansk.
Ukraine's SBU Security Service press center said on Monday a member of the militant "Ghost" unit detained in Rubizhne, where he hid after finishing his military career, was sentenced to a 10-year prison term.
A resident of Holubivka in Luhansk region belonging to the so-called 2nd Army Corps of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic was sentenced to five years in jail. The suspect served at LPR checkpoints.
"The criminal was captured trying to cross into territory controlled by Ukrainian forces," the SBU said.
A three-year prison term was given to an militant informer, and two saboteurs were sentenced to two years in jail for violating Part 1 of Article 258-3 (creating a terrorist group) of Ukraine's Criminal Code.
According to the court ruling, the sentences all take effect in January 2018.
