Poroshenko pardons woman to facilitate release of Ukrainian hostages – Gerashchenko
A woman who committed a serious crime against Ukraine but was pardoned by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to facilitate the swap of prisoners has already been transferred to occupied Donbas, First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada and Ukraine's envoy to the Minsk Trilateral Contact Group's humanitarian subgroup Iryna Gerashchenko has reported.
"The other day the president pardoned a woman who had committed a serious crime at a young age. She wounded herself and has amputated limbs and a child. She wrote a letter to the president, in which she repented of the crime, pleaded guilty and requested pardon for the sake of a small child. This is a gesture of humanism and goodwill, which, we hope, will contribute to the continuation of the release of our hostages from ORDLO, and we look forward to the liberation of the Ukrainian military. We are working to have good news for families and for Ukraine," Gerashchenko wrote.
