Ukrainian law enforcers establish data of 500 members of 'Crimea's Self defense' – Crimea's prosecutor

Ukrainian law enforcers have already established the data of more than five hundred members of the illegally created armed group of 'Crimea's Self Defense' and this work continues, prosecutor of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Gunduz Mamedov has said.

"The representatives of the so-called 'Crimea's Self Defense' are directly related to violations of the rights and freedoms of citizens on the territory of the peninsula, the seizure of administrative buildings and other strategic facilities providing assistance to the aggressor country. Political authorities have now established the data of more than 500 members of this illegally created armed group. The work on identification and collection of evidence of the involvement of these individuals in some illegal activities continues," Crimea's prosecutor's office said on Friday morning.

The press service of the office also informs that the investigators of Crimea have received enough evidence to notify suspicion of involvement in attacks of organizations and citizens not included in the law of armed formation, as well as encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine to the leader of the so-called special purpose company 'Self Defense of Crimea.'

"In particular, the former head of the republican trade union of workers of the Interior Ministry of Ukraine called an extraordinary meeting of the trade union on February 23, 2014, where the so-called armed formation of the 'Self Defense of Crimea' was established," the report reads.

According to the investigation, on February 27, 2014, the person headed the fourth company command of the armed formation, which took part in the blocking and seizure of the airport in Simferopol, coordinated the actions of Russian law enforcers in Crimea, and also seized the premises of the Security Service and the Interior Ministry in the autonomy.

"On January 17, a person was informed about suspicion and materials were prepared to put him on the wanted list," the message reads.

It is noted in the information that the said person is suspected of committing a criminal offense under Part 5 of Article 266 and Part 2 of Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
