Mingarelli on misinformation: Vision of Ukraine in Western Europe has nothing to do with reality

The disinformation campaign has seriously weakened Ukraine and its image in Western Europe, Hugues Mingarelli, head of the European Union Delegation to Ukraine has said.

One of the challenges [of Ukraine's security] is the disinformation campaign that was carried out and which, in my opinion, weakened Ukraine to a large extent, he said at a roundtable on "The threats to the security of Ukraine and other countries of the Eastern Partnership: possible answers" in Kyiv on Tuesday.

Mingarelli noted that such misinformation campaign had influence not only inside Ukraine, it also affected the image of the country abroad. The vision of Ukraine in Western Europe has nothing to do with reality in this country, largely because of the propaganda, disinformation activity that was carried out in Western Europe, the diplomat said.
