Ukrainian Armed Forces to strengthen positions in Donbas
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov (NSDC) has said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will strengthen their positions in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) zone in Donbas.
"The Armed Forces are ready to repel any attacks. We will certainly strengthen our positions at the front," he said during an exhibition in memory of Armed Forces Lieutenant Amina Okuyeva in Kyiv on Wednesday.
He noted that in recent days the enemy had been shelling civilian facilities in Donbas from artillery and multiple launch rocket systems.
Turchynov also expressed hope that "the Normandy format [countries] will assess Russia's attempts not just to go through escalation, but completely remove any opportunities to stop the aggression in the east of Ukraine and Crimea by political and diplomatic means."
