Poroshenko parliamentary faction's head explains why Rada in no hurry to adopt bill on Donbas
Ukrainian lawmakers have asked that consideration of the second reading of the bill to ensure Ukraine's state sovereignty in Donbas be postponed until the extension of anti-Russian sanctions and the release of captives, Artur Herasymov, the head of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc's parliamentary faction and a member of the Verkhovna Rada national security and defense committee, said.
"As for this bill on de-occupation, reintegration... The first deputy speaker of the Verkhovna Rada and other colleagues asked the head of the Verkhovna Rada for additional consultations until, firstly, the approval of sanctions against the aggressor country and, secondly, until the moment our captives are released," Herasymov said at a briefing in Kyiv on Monday.
Verkhovna Rada Deputy Speaker Iryna Gerashchenko said earlier on Monday, December 18, that the bill to ensure Ukraine's sovereignty in Donbas requires additional consultations.
