SBU detained 21 members of illegal armed groups, over 50 people convicted in 2017
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU)'s military counterintelligence service detained 21 members of illegal armed formations in 2017.
"The SBU's military counterintelligence service also detained 21 representatives of illegal armed formations in 2017," the SBU's press service said on Monday.
According to the agency's materials, ten people were convicted of crimes against the foundations of national security, and 43 people were convicted for illegal terrorist activities in 2017.
This year, law enforcement officers recorded over 500 cases of illegal trafficking in military weapons.
"The military counterintelligence service of the Security Service of Ukraine continues to effectively perform the assigned tasks in the area of the anti-terrorist operation, as well as block attempts by subversive and intelligence groups and agents of the Russian special services to destabilize the situation inside the country," the report says.
