Pukach not giving evidence to identify those who ordered Gongadze's killing - Lutsenko
Oleksiy Pukach, the former head of the external surveillance department of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry, who was convicted of the murder of Ukrainian journalist Georgy Gongadze, is not giving testimony that would help identify those who ordered this crime, Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko has said.
He said on Wednesday, December 13, on the HARD program on the ZIK television channel, when asked whether law enforcers could name those who ordered the journalist's murder: "I do not know. I cannot say anything."
At the same time, Lutsenko said: "At the moment, we know a lot of things, but the key witnesses are dead, and General Pukach, the only one alive, unfortunately, despite all attempts, including my attempts, does not give respective testimony, even with the possibility of mitigating his most severe punishment."
Lutsenko said that Pukach is "actually the last witness" who could help investigators establish those who ordered the killing.
