Gas Connect Austria, the country's national gas transport operator, restored transit of gas in all directions Tuesday evening following a deadly explosion at the Baumgarten gas hub on Tuesday morning, GCA reported.
Italian gas pipeline operator Snam Rete Gas has already been showing restored reception of gas from Austria since late Tuesday evening. However, supplies have not yet recovered to the previous level.
Gas supplies from Austria to Italy were initially forecast at 113 million cubic meters for Tuesday, but as of Wednesday it was stated as 87 mcm.
Slovak gas transport operator Eustream is publishing nominations for gas transit for the gas day of December 13 at 130 mcm, which is close to the level prior to the explosion at the gas hub. The figure was 140 mcm for Monday.
The explosion at the gas hub was followed by a fire. The cause of the incident has not been determined yet, though it is believed there might have been an equipment failure. The investigation is continuing.
