Number of IDPs from Crimea several times higher than official figures – Dzhaparova
The real number of IDPs from Crimea to the mainland of Ukraine is several times higher than official data, First Deputy Minister of Information Policy Emine Dzhaparova said.
"According to official estimates, there are 27,000 IDPs [from Crimea to the mainland of Ukraine]. We believe that according to unofficial data they are two or three times more," Dzhaparova said during a conference in Kyiv on Tuesday.
She noted that in the context of Crimea's annexation, the Russian Federation is unprecedentedly violating human rights on the peninsula, and "the level of repression in Crimea is unprecedented" - forced passportization, searches of Crimean Tatars, their detention and arrests.
