Court to start selecting measure of restraint for Saakashvili at 12.00
A session of the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv to choose a measure of restraint for the earlier detained leader of the Movement of New Forces party and former Georgian president, Mikheil Saakashvili, is scheduled for 12.00 on Monday, his lawyer, Ruslan Chornolutsky, has said.
"The session will be held at 12.00, in the second hall. Automatic distribution has already been conducted, and Judge Larysa Ivanivna Tsokol has been appointed [to hear the case]," he told reporters near the court building on Monday.
He added that the prosecutor would demand that the court place Saakashvili under round-the-clock house arrest for two months and oblige him to appear for investigative actions.
At the same time, the defense team opposes any preventive measure.
