Recent attacks on independent anti-corruption institutions in Ukraine such as the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) threaten their ability to fight corruption and recover stolen assets, the World Bank has said.
"It's critical they have the legislative framework and resources to fulfil their mandate," the World Bank's office in Ukraine said in a statement early on Thursday.
The statement was posted on the Facebook page of the office under a photo of a meeting between World Bank President Jim Jong Kim and NABU Director Artem Sytnyk.
