Saakashvili's supporters building barricade in Kyiv
Supporters of former Georgian President and leader of the Movement of New Forces party Mikheil Saakashvili are continuing to block a motorcade carrying the detained politician, in Triokhsviatytelska Street in central Kyiv.
During a standoff lasting for some time, Saakashvili's supporters began removing paving stones and piling up trash bins on the road in efforts to build an impromptu barricade.
Law enforcement officers attempted to force the politician's supporters back from the motorcade. They have partly succeeded in doing so, but the mob has broken through their column, leading to a clash.
The police later managed to join ranks, but protesters continue to block the motorcade, hurling empty glass bottles and stones at the police.
Another police column has now arrived from St. Volodymyr Hill and has begun putting up a cordon around the activists blocking cars.
