EU mission calls on authorities to respect Saakashvili's rights, hopes for fair, lawful investigation
The Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine calls on the authorities of the country to respect the rights of former President of Georgia, leader of the New Forces Movement party, Mikheil Saakashvili, and hopes the investigation into his case will be conducted within the framework of the law.
We know that Mr. Saakashvili is suspected. We are closely following this case and we hope that the investigation will be carried out in accordance with the law and on time, the statement of the EU Delegation to the Interfax-Ukraine agency's request reads.
The mission also calls on the Ukrainian authorities to respect Saakashvili's rights.
We urge the authorities to ensure that the basic rights of Mr. Saakashvili are observed, it reads.
