Klimkin, EU partners discuss sanctions against Russia, situation in Donbas and Crimea

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has held a number of bilateral meetings as part of his participation in the Eastern Partnership summit in Brussels, in particular, with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, Secretary General of the European External Action Service Helga Schmid, and the foreign ministers of the Netherlands and Estonia.

"The major topics discussed at these meetings of the minister were the worsening of the security situation in Donbas, the further deterioration of the situation in the occupied Crimea, the importance of maintaining sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation and the creation of an international mechanism for de-occupation of Crimea," the Foreign Ministry's press service reported on Saturday.

Klimkin called on his colleagues to support the UN General Assembly resolution on the situation with human rights in Crimea, which was proposed by Ukraine.

In addition, Klimkin and President of the European Investment Bank Werner Hoyer discussed prospects for cooperation between Ukraine and the EIB, the implementation of a number of projects and the ways of further financial support for Ukraine.
