Ukraine's Defense Ministry refutes Belarusian KGB claims of Sharoiko's involvement in spying
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry has said claims by the Belarusian State Security Committee (KGB) concerning Ukrainian journalist Pavlo Sharoiko's spying in this country, as well as reports about his membership of the Main Intelligence Directorate are not true.
"On November 20, the Belarusian media circulated a statement of a spokesman of the State Security Committee of the Republic of Belarus about the involvement of Ukrainian journalist Pavlo Sharoiko in the formation of an intelligence network and holding intelligence activities on the territory of the Republic of Belarus. This statement also says that Sharoiko admitted that he is an employee of the Main Intelligence Directorate Ministry of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine. The Public Relations Service of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine has been authorized to state that ... this information is not true," the Main Intelligence Directorate said in a statement.
