Court chooses personal recognizance as preventive measure against Avakov's son
The Solomiansky District Court of Kyiv has chosen personal recognizance as a preventive measure for the son of Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, Oleksandr, as part of the 'backpack case'.
Judge of the Solomiansky district court of Kyiv Vitaly Ukrainets passed relevant ruling on Wednesday, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.
"The prosecutor's request has been partly satisfied… To elect a preventive measure against Oleksandr Avakov... in the form of a personal recognizance. He must appear at the request of the investigators and report on his movements," the judge said, reading the decree.
Prosecutors requested a 60-day arrest with an option of a UAH 5 million bail. According to them, the defendant can put pressure on witnesses, and, taking into account his wealth, he can leave Ukraine.
Representatives of the prosecution also noted that "dozens of butch people and members of the National Police" were trying to prevent them from conducting investigatory actions in the 'backpack case'.
