Five residents of hostel in Zaporizhia killed in fire
Five residents of a hostel in the center of Zaporizhia have been killed in a fire that broke out in the early hours of October 2, the press service of the main office of the State Emergency for Emergency Situations in Zaporizhia region has reported.
The fire broke out at 02.46 in the hostel at 36 Zhukovskoho Street in the Oleksandrivsky district of Zaporizhia.
According to the report, the service's units managed to extinguish the fire at 04.15. Four people were found dead at the scene.
Four residents of the hostel, including an eight-year-old child, were rescued. They were taken to hospital, but one of them was seriously injured and later died.
A reason behind the fire, which broke out on the second floor of the hostel, could be a faulty heater of a person on duty.
The police are working at the scene. The investigation is underway.
