Kyiv working so Hungarian Ukrainians feel comfortable in EU and Ukraine
Ukrainian authorities are working on the issue to ensure that Hungarian Ukrainians feel as comfortable as possible in light of the recent adoption of education legislation, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has said.
"We are working so Ukrainians of Hungarian heritage feel as comfortable in the EU as they feel in Ukraine," Klimkin said on his Facebook page on Tuesday.
The foreign minister added that more languages provide more possibilities.
"The constructive attitude in our dialog [with Hungary] will allow us to eliminate misunderstanding," he said.
As earlier reported, on September 25 Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko signed education law No. 2145-VII, which was passed by Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada on September 5, 2017.
The law provides for Ukrainian to be the language of instruction in educational institutions. However, in line with the educational program, the language of instruction for subjects can be the state language, English and other languages used in the European Union.
