Poroshenko calling on UN secretary-general to send technical assessment mission to Ukraine to analyze overall situation in Donbas
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has called on UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to send a technical assessment mission to Ukraine as part of his mandate.
"Let me also reaffirm the invitation to the Secretary General to exercise his authority under the Charter and to send a Technical Assessment Mission to Ukraine. Based on the mission's analysis, possible options of the UN political and security presence in Donbas should be elaborated and presented for further consideration to the Security Council," Poroshenko said when addressing the UN Security Council in New York on Wednesday.
In his words, Ukraine expects such mission to analyze and assess the overall situation on the ground.
