Some $200 mln of 'Yanukovych family' to be transferred to state budget in coming days
Some $200 million received from the special confiscation of funds of former officials from the entourage of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych will be transferred to the national budget in a few days, Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko said at a meeting of the parliamentary committee of the Ukraine-EU association in Dnipro.
According to him, additional receipts from special confiscations are expected in a few days, but the prosecutor general did not name the sum.
"We are constantly working to return the stolen money to Ukraine," Lutsenko said.
He noted the prosecutor's office had already returned $1.5 billion of "Yanukovych money" to Ukraine's budget, while the total amount of stolen money is about $40 billion.
The prosecutor general noted the agency he heads is working hard so that "Yanukovych and the persons involved in his organized crime group take legal and financial responsibility." Lutsenko also said now the investigation into financial cases is coming to an end and by the end of this year all these cases will be transferred to court.
