Kyiv appeals court upholds pretrial ruling against MP Shufrych's son
The Kyiv Court of Appeals on Tuesday upheld the ruling of Kyiv Shevchenkivsky District Court to remand the son of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine deputy Nestor Shufrych in his father's custody.
Nestor Shufrych Jr. on August 26 ran over a 31-year pedestrian in the center of Kyiv.
"The Kyiv Court of Appeals leaves unchanged the ruling of Shenvchenkivsky District Court on pretrial custody [of the defendant]," the court of appeals said.
Prosecutors are investigating charges against Shufrych Jr. under Part 2 of Article 286 (violating driving regulations, leading to serious injuries) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Charges were announced on August 29.
