Hungary makes complaint to UN, EU and OSCE due to Ukrainian law on education
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary has filed a complaint with a number of international organizations on the law on education earlier adopted by the Verkhovna Rada, Radio Svoboda has reported.
"Hungary has filed a complaint with the OSCE Secretary General, the High Commissioner on National Minorities and the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, as well as the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the EU Commissioner for Enlargement and the European Neighborhood Policy. In this letter the Hungarian government draws the attention of international organizations to the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of a new law on education, which, in the opinion of Budapest, will infringe on the rights of the Hungarian minority in Ukraine," reads the report.
As reported, on September 5 the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on education, which begins the reform of education in Ukraine. The law, among other things, determines that the language of the educational process in educational institutions is the state language.
