Ukrainian police start criminal inquiry into illegal border crossing by Saakashvili
The police of Ukraine's Lviv region have started a criminal inquiry into the illegal border crossing by former Georgian President and former head of the Odesa regional administration Mikheil Saakashvili and his associates, the Ukrainian National Police said in a report posted on Facebook early on Monday morning.
"Today, on September 11, following the events that happened near the Shehyni checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Polish border, the Lviv regional police added information about a criminal offense described in Article 332 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code (illegal transportation of persons across the Ukrainian state border) to the Unified Register of Pretrial Inquiries," the report said.
As reported earlier, 11 policemen and five border guards were hurt as a result of the illegal breaking of a group of aggressive persons through the Shehyni border checkpoint in the Lviv region and the brawl.
