Merkel believes in possibility of solving Donbas problem within Normandy format

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has said that sanctions against Russia will be lifted when there is no reason for them.

"The sanctions will be canceled when the cause is eliminated," she said at a press conference on Tuesday.

The Normandy format will find a solution that would solve the conflict in Donbas, she said.

"When we are able to implement the Minsk agreements agenda we would have a good chance that would lead to the lifting of the sanctions," she said.
