Militants in Donbas deliberately fire illuminating flares in fields, settlements
Militants in Donbas deliberately fire illuminating flares into fields and settlements setting fire in the conditions of high inflammability, Ukraine's representative in the security subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) Yevhen Marchuk has said.
"The temperatures in Donbas are now high, both literally and figuratively. There is a lot of dry land, not to mention the fields of ripened grains. When the wind in our direction, militants fire light flares, but not in the air for illumination, but shooting into the fields and settlements," Marchuk wrote on his Facebook page.
He said that during the daylight these flares re almost invisible and the shot is hardly audible.
"And this flare does not burn out in the air, but on the ground where it fell down. It's possible to set it on fire in the current weather, and the OSCE SMM [Special Monitoring Mission of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe] will not see anything," Marchuk said.
