Poroshenko appoints Nazarenko as his adviser, makes him army general
Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko has accepted the resignation of Head of the State Border Service of Ukraine, Colonel-General, Viktor Nazarenko, and thanked the latter for his work.
"I received a letter from the head of the Border Service, Colonel-General of Ukraine Viktor Nazarenko on his resignation from his post for health reasons... I decided to accept his resignation," the president said when presenting the new head of the Border Service.
"As president, I am satisfied with the state of affairs in the Border Service, but health is health, and we should take this into account... That's why I decided to grant his request. I simultaneously signed a decree dismissing Nazarenko as the service head and appointing him as my adviser."
In addition, the president bestowed on Nazarenko the military rank of the army general of Ukraine.
In his turn, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said Nazarenko will work in the board of the Interior Ministry to ensure that communication with the State Border Guard Service should be even better.
