Germany, France demand immediate ceasefire in Donbas
Berlin and Paris demand from all parties to the conflict in eastern Ukraine to ensure an immediate ceasefire in Donbas, the joint German-French statement posted following the results of the telephone talks of the Normandy Four, says.
"The ceasefire violations must be immediately stopped. The heads of state and government [French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel] demand fulfillment of the ceasefire agreement dated June 21, 2017 reached by the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk," the document says.
The German and French leaders also called for the implementation of the Minsk agreements in full, including political, economic and humanitarian components, security issues, and also demanded the swap of hostages based on the "all for all" principle until the end of this year, the statement said.
Macron and Merkel also stressed the importance of the early restoration of economic ties between the parties to the conflict.
As reported, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during the negotiations insisted on the introduction of the UN peacekeeping mission to Donbas.
