Court sends 47 guilty sentences against ex deputies of Crimea parliament – PGO
The Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea has sent conviction notices against five more former deputies of the peninsula's parliament who are charged with state treason. The measure was taken following special preliminary investigations.
"During the investigations of criminal cases incontrovertible evidence was gathered attesting to the fact that in March 2014 these deputies assisted in and facilitated the occupation of Crimea. They illegally issued resolutions, as a result of which the illegitimate Republic of Crimea was created," the PGO's press service said.
Inasmuch as the accused carried out criminal activities pursuant to Part 1 of Article 111 (state treason) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, they can be jailed for a term lasting from 12 to 15 years.
The prosecutor's office has already sent 47 criminal acts involving former deputies of the Crimean parliament," the press service said.
