NBU governor declares UAH 57 mln of income in 2016

Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Valeriya Gontareva has declared UAH 57 million of income in 2016, according to a posting on the central bank's website.

In 2016, the NBU governor’s gross salary (before personal income tax and military charge are deducted) was UAH 1.97 million. Last year the NBU Governor received the third installment of proceeds in the amount of UAH 52.572 million from the sale of her shares in ICU Holdings Limited (British Virgin Islands). Savings account balances held by the NBU Governor with Ukreximbank amounted to $2.655 million. Gontareva earned a total of UAH 2.365 in interest on deposits in 2016.

NBU said that Gontareva paid UAH 9.82 million in personal income tax and UAH 0.402 million in taxes on deposits and UAH 0.851 million in military tax.

Gontareva reported paying a tuition fee of UAH 1.206 million for her son’s education in the "Expenses" section of her declaration.

In 2016, the NBU governor’s family members acquired a land plot of 2,500 square meters, a residential house with a total area of 316 square meters, a 2008 Mercedes Benz and office premises with a total area of 68.7 square meters.
