Saakashvili announces large unification of democratic forces, allows early elections in 2017

The leader of the Rukh Novykh Syl party (New Forces Movement), ex-head of Odesa Regional State Administration Mikheil Saakashvili has announced the unification of a number of democratic political forces and predicts early elections in Ukraine this year.

"I think we will find a formula [for unification], all these people should unite. It's ridiculous and untenable when they all individually follow their own way... People must unite and within one force compete with one another... You'll see, there will be a big unification in the near future," he told journalists at a forum organized by the Volia party (Will Party) in Kyiv on Saturday.

According to Saakashvili, the matter concerns the unification of political forces, whose representatives took part in the forum: the Rukh of Novykh Syl, the Khvylia, the DemAlliance, the Volia, as well as some other forces.

Speaking about the probability of early elections in Ukraine, the official allowed the elections could occur as early as 2017.
