The killer, who shot dead former Russian Duma deputy Denis Voronenkov in central Kyiv on Thursday, has died at Kyiv city clinic hospital No. 17 from gunshot wounds sustained during an exchange of fire.
"The murderer of the Duma ex-deputy Voronenkov has died in hospital," Larysa Sarhan, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian prosecutor general, wrote on her Twitter account.
The Hromadske.ua news website says that the killer had been taken to the city hospital N17, where he died later. "The chief physician [at the hospital] Mykola Diomin announced the death of the killer who killed Voronenkov," according to the report.
The killer underwent four operations and had an open cardiac massage, which "set [his heart] beating but because the [cardiac] arrest was too long, this could no longer help," Diomin said.
