President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on Thursday held a meeting with law enforcers in connection with the murder of former State Duma deputy Denis Voronenkov in the center of Kyiv, presidential press secretary Sviatoslav Tseholko has said.
"The insidious murder in the center of Kyiv of Denis Voronenkov is an act of state terrorism on the part of Russia, the country he was forced to flee for political reasons. The clear pattern of the Russian secret services, which has been demonstrated repeatedly in various European capitals," Tseholko quoted the president as saying.
According to Poroshenko, Voronenkov was one of the main witnesses of the Russian aggression against Ukraine and in particular the role of former President Viktor Yanukovych in the context of the bringing of Russian troops into Ukraine.
"I consider it not accidental that the murder occurred on the same day with diversion in Balaklia in Kharkiv region," the president said.
