A mass rally in support of a blockade of trade with occupied Donbas was held in central Kyiv on Tuesday evening.
The activists gathered on Kyiv's Independence Square (Maidan) at about 19:00 local time, lit flares and headed toward the office of SCM (System Capital Management) belonging to Ukrainian businessman Rinat Akhmetov, the Kyiv city police communication department said.
Later on, the protesters returned to Khreschatyk Street and hurled stones and empty glass bottles at an office of Russian Alfa-Bank's subsidiary in Ukraine. "The police did not allow them to go inside the financial institution's building," the police department said.
The activists left the area around the Independence Column on Independence Square by 22:00 local time, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported from the scene.
The protesters who hurled stones and empty glass bottles at the Alfa-Bank office on Khreschatyk Street also dispersed.
