Ukrainian, German foreign ministers discuss improving SMM OSCE efficiency
The foreign ministers of Ukraine and Germany, Pavlo Klimkin and Sigmar Gabriel, respectively, have discussed in Kyiv was to enhance the efficiency of the Special Monitoring Mission of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe's (OSCE) in eastern Ukraine.
"We had a very good discussion, during which we first focused on how we can jointly improve within the framework of the Normandy Four group (Ukraine, Germany, France and Russia) chances for attaining peace and forcing Russia to fulfill its obligations under the Minsk agreements," Klimkin said during a joint press conference following the talks in Kyiv on Thursday.
Ukraine's FM said talks were also held in Munich at the level of foreign ministers of the Normandy Four.
"We are now working on how to strengthen the SMM OSCE's mission, on ways to reach a real ceasefire, and, most importantly, how the SMM can effectively control, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the line of demarcation throughout the whole of Donbas, as well as the Ukraine-Russia border," Klimkin said.
