Gontareva may resign after getting fourth IMF tranche
The memorandum after the third revision of the EFF program with the IMF could be the last, under which there will be the signature of the incumbent head of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), Valeriya Gontareva, Gontareva said at a press conference in Kyiv.
"But I once again emphasize that officially the National Bank will announce this in advance. We have not made such an announcement. The National Bank board is working on a very tight schedule," she said.
As reported, since the middle of last week several mass media have reported about Gontareva's alleged decision to submit a resignation letter, which the president is ready to sign. Interfax-Ukraine sources said, in contrast to similar messages in the previous years, that this time the probability of resignation is higher, but in any case the NBU head will insist on appointing a non-political figure and a professional banker to this post.
The NBU officially denied the information about the possible resignation of Gontareva within the next month.
