German Foreign Ministry comments on Ambassador Reichel's statement

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany has recognized no alternative to the Minsk agreements, commenting on the words of Ambassador of Germany to Ukraine Ernst Reichel, DW.com. said.

The direction sign for all our efforts to overcome the crisis in the east of Ukraine is the Minsk agreements between Russia and Ukraine dated February 12, 2015, signed with the mediation of France and Germany, the German Foreign Ministry response says to a request of DW.

As reported, Reichel was summoned to the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine to provide explanations regarding his statements about the possibility of holding elections in the territories of Donbas uncontrolled by Kyiv before the withdrawal of Russian troops.

Earlier, in an interview with the media, German Ambassador to Ukraine Ernst Reichel said that the elections in Donbas can take place in the presence of Russian troops.
