Ukraine's Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has taken an unofficial visit to Israel, Ukraine's Foreign Ministry has said.
"Klimkin travelled to Israel on an unofficial visit. He met with Israeli top officials there," the foreign ministry's press service told the Kyiv-based Interfax-Ukraine news agency.
As earlier reported, the planned December 27-28, 2016 visit of Ukraine's Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman to Israel was cancelled. Israeli media reported Ukraine's support for a resolution in the United Nations to cease settlement building in the occupied territories was the reason to cancel the trip indefinitely.
Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on February 1 during a phone conversation agreed on Groysman's visit to Israel in the future.
