European Parliament approves visa-free travel for Georgia
The European Parliament approved visa-free travel of Georgian citizens to the Schengen zone at a plenary meeting on Thursday.
It was said at the European Parliament's meeting broadcast live by Georgian television that the EU would apply the mechanism suspending the visa-free travel regime for Georgia in case of any violations.
Most parliamentarians supported the visa-free travel regime for Georgia during the debates, while some, such as deputies from the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, said it would be premature.
European Parliament member, rapporteur on Georgia Maria Gabriel told the press earlier that Georgian nationals would be free to visit the EU without visas only at the end of March due to the need to resolve a series of technical problems.
