Biden hopes Trump administration to be supporter, partner of Kyiv
U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden hopes the administration of new U.S. President Donald Trump will be a supporter of Ukraine.
The Americans, including almost one million of them who are of Ukrainian origin, understand that Ukraine's success is crucial not only to Ukrainians but also to Europe and the U.S., he said at a joint briefing with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in Kyiv on Monday.
If Ukraine continues moving in this direction, it will have not only the more open, more democratic and better future that its people deserve, but will also secure the support and unity of international community, he said.
Hopefully, the next administration will also be a supporter and partner of Ukraine's future progress, he said.
At the same time Biden noted that it is primarily up to Ukraine itself and its people to fulfill their goals.
