Ukraine backs UNSC resolution seeking to establish ceasefire in Syria
Ukraine backs establishment of ceasefire in Syria, and the country cast the supporting vote at the meeting of the UN Security Council (UNSC) on Saturday, December 31.
"Ukraine voted in favor of UNSC res for one reason – because it focuses on the establishment of a ceasefire regime," the Ukrainian Mission to UN said on Twitter.
"To make this ceasefire work, a necessary level of confidence and trust has to be built up between all parties in Syria," Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Volodymyr Yelchenko said.
Russian Federation and Turkey's resolution No. 2336 on the ceasefire in Syria was adopted unanimously by UNSC.
