Kuchma says upcoming elections in France, Germany may affect Normandy Four format
The outcome of the upcoming elections in France and Germany may seriously affect talks in the Normandy Format (Ukraine, Germany, France, Russia) on the Donbas settlement, Ukraine's representative to the Trilateral Contact Group for Donbas, second Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma, said.
"Well, can't you see the situation surrounding Ukraine today? [...] It is fluctuating. Everything can come crashing down at any moment, particularly considering the situation that is present today in Europe," Kuchma told reporters in Kyiv on Friday.
The positions that European countries have on Ukraine are shaky today, he went on.
"The upcoming elections, both in France and Germany, can amount to some very serious effects, down to the Normandy Format's collapse. And such voices are being heard now," Kuchma said.
