It is forced step, we managed to defend Ukraine's principled stance
Ukraine has managed to avoid further negotiations on ratification of the Association Agreement with the EU with the prospect of an uncertain time, as well as amendments to the text of the Agreement, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has said.
"We appreciate the efforts of EU leaders aimed to reach agreement on the decision which paves the way for a long-awaited completion of the Association Agreement ratification by the European Union. It was a forced step needed to achieve our common goal, namely - preservation of the Association Agreement with the EU," Poroshenko wrote on his Facebook page on Friday.
"We were able to defend the Ukraine's principled stance: not to allow new negotiations with an uncertain time perspective, to prevent any changes to the text of the Agreement, as well as its re-ratification by all member states," the president said.
