Savchenko confirms to SBU she spoke with DPR, LPR leaders in Minsk
Ukrainian MP Nadia Savchenko of the Batkivschyna faction has confirmed to the Ukrainian Security Service investigators that she visited Minsk, where she talked with the leaders of self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics Alexander Zakharchenko and Igor Plotnitsky.
"She confirmed the trip to Minsk and meetings with the leaders of terrorist organizations LPR and DPR," SBU Chief of Staff Alexander Tkachuk told Interfax-Ukraine on Monday.
Tkachuk pointed to the fact that such contacts are not a criminal offense from the legal point of view. "The only thing is she may have violated the security procedures. All MPs here [in Ukraine] are given access to state secrets. She [Savchenko] should have informed… the office of the Verkhovna Rada of her intentions to go abroad," the SBU official said.
At the same time, Tkachuk said Savchenko is not authorized by the Ukrainian authorities to discuss any issues related to the release of the hostages.
