Canada has imposed sanctions on 15 Russian nationals, the Canadian Foreign Ministry said.
"These sanctions are in response to the September 18 election of officials residing in Crimea to Russia's State Duma. Canada does not support the legitimacy or the outcome of these elections," the statement posted on the ministry's website said.
It said the blacklisted persons would be "subject to an asset freeze and dealings prohibition."
The purpose of the sanctions "is to maintain pressure on Russia to implement its Minsk commitments," it said.
"Today's announcement of additional sanctions underscores Canada's unwavering commitment to the sovereignty of Ukraine," the statement said.
