Yanukovych: Main mistake not declaring martial law during 2014 Maidan events
Former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych believes his main mistake during the 2014 events in the Maidan in Kyiv was that he did not declare martial law.
"I did make a number of mistakes, I am not a saint. The main mistake that I made is that I wasn't resolute enough to sign an order on sending troops and declaring martial law in Ukraine. This was the only way at the time to stop the radicals. I didn't resort to bloodshed," Yanukovych said at a press conference in Rostov-on-Don on Friday.
However, Yanukovych admitted that, "even if that time could be returned," he couldn't have made this decision anyway.
